The constant buzzing drone was the soothing chatter a never idle brain required to focus. Near black eyes fixed on a sketchpad, watching fingers and pencil that seemed to move of their own accord, drawing hard sweeping lines that might someday be a masterpiece. Her audience watched, completely absorbed in the simple motions. Lilith knew however, that the smaller woman was merely waiting for a good opportunity to broach some random subject. She kept her intensity, eyes never straying through the page as she continued to watch the movement in the periphery of her vision. The movement was like a persistent itch, getting under her skin and bringing her out of her brooding distraction. Finally the pencil paused on the paper and black eyes lifted to acknowledge the woman she knew would be hovering by the door of her studio. “Arriyana…”
Fluid and sensuous, the short spectator flowed into the room after finally being acknowledged. Daring to approach the coiled tiger of a woman, crouched over her sketchpad. “It’s after noon, you’re not supposed to be this cranky.” Dark eyes watching Arriyana, not responding to the taunt. She had no desire to be goaded into another circular game of words with the tiny vixen. Arriyana smiled, undaunted and whirled her way closer to the other woman, ignoring the tensing of honed muscles and the grit of teeth a bit too pointed to be natural. “oh drop the act already, I’m not a paying customer.”
Lilith snorted and finally gave in, half-heartedly flinging her pencil in Arriyana’s direction. There was no need to play the game any further today so she leaned back and simply stared. “What do you want this time?” Arriyana ducked the careless missile and wove her way closer, leaning against the seat woman’s side to drape arms across her shoulder. “What makes you think I want something?”
A slender brow raised in vague amusement, watching the much shorter Arriyana with a sort of practiced indulgence. The expression was held until Arriyana relented and slumped into a nearby seat with a sigh, a frown marring her features for just a moment. “Sometimes you act like you know me.” Lilith merely grunted in response, clearly waiting for whatever it was the pink haired woman would want this time.
